About Us:
Affectiva Egypt LLC [SmartEye AB Company] is a cutting-edge technology company specializing in AI and computer vision related products. Our Data Engineering and Data Platform team is dedicated to developing innovative solutions that leverage data engineering and internal platforms to create impactful AI applications. We are looking for motivated and talented interns to join us for a summer internship program focused on developing a Proof of Concept (PoC) for our annotation database platform.

Role Overview:
As a Data Platform Intern, you will work on essential components of our annotation database platform, specifically focusing on Annotation Metadata Management, Data Versioning, and Data Quality Assurance. You will collaborate closely with our engineering team to design, develop, and implement these features, contributing to the project's overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Annotation Metadata Management:
    • Design and implement systems for capturing and storing metadata associated with annotations
    • Create interfaces for viewing and managing metadata within the annotation platform
  • Data Versioning:
    • Develop and integrate version control mechanisms for annotated data
    • Implement systems to track changes, maintain history, and allow rollback to previous annotation versions
    • Ensure efficient storage and retrieval of different data versions
  • Data Quality Assurance:
    • Implement quality metrics to evaluate the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of annotations
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of database management and data structures
  • Basic knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Familiarity with quality assurance methodologies and tools
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript
  • Familiarity with web development frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Angular, Flask, Django) is a plus
Required Skills:
  • Technical Skills:
    • Database design and management (SQL, NoSQL)
    • API development and integration
    • Experience with version control systems
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with AI and computer vision projects
  • Knowledge of data annotation platforms and tools (e.g., Labelbox, CVAT)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
